Bollingerandkrug Wins His Novice Hurle At Kelso

Bollingerandkrug won his novice hurdle at Kelso this afternoon, looking to build on his previous runs and use his new found experience to good use by leading and jumping well for a novice. He gamely kept the second horse at bay and with this win under his belt, he should be able to go on for his owner Debs Thomson. Bought by Debs at the Goffs Land Rover Sale as a three year old, he has a nice turn of foot along with stamina, and of course, he will make a cracking chaser in time.

We were not sure how the day would pan out when West End Lady started the day with a below par run in the mares handicap hurdle. She may have had a couple of tough races before this and we will give her a short break to strengthen up again.

Faire Part Sivola ran a solid race to be third in the two mile six hurdle and I think that he will stay further in time; he just needs to get slicker over his hurdles.

We had a better run in the two mile chase from Well Above Par too; he slipped and skidded halfway through on the flat and lost his prominent position but rallied to be fourth. We will check him carefully in the morning for any soreness but on this showing, he should be able to better this pacing soon. Saint Leo looked one-paced in the same two mile chase and is still not back to form.

Finally, Charmix tried the extended three mile trip over fences and looked to stay, so this opens up more race options for him.
