Ahoy Senor And Slainte Mhor Double Up At Ayr

In the autumn Goffs UK held two sales at Yorton Stud under strict social distancing rules. We bought the UK point to pointer Ahoy Senor after consultation with our UK pointing contacts and were delighted to secure him for a sensible price. A strong good moving type he had been well produced by Phil Rowley and we were delighted to see him win today at Ayr for Bruce and Carron Wymer. Being a big chap he found the hurdles a bit perplexing at first, but given a sensible ride by Derek he gained confidence through the race and was foot perfect up the home straight, always holding his challenger. He is an exciting horse for the yard and will have another couple of hurdle runs before going chasing next season.

Slainte Mhor has taken time to get himself together and is still not the finished article, however, he was galvanised by Derek and stayed on to win the three mile handicap chase in a driving finish. By Milan he should continue to improve and will stay further in time; it is great for my father Peter Rusell to have a nice horse to follow.

Our other runners at Ayr performed better than their placings suggest; OrionInverness was a little behind Stephen and he will have his blinkers off next time, while Rivabodiva ran very well for a long way under Patrick until getting a little weary in the home straight. There will be more days for them.

Meanwhile, El and Steve were at Wolverhampton with Ballyare our sprinter who just knocked into a well-handicapped opponent, but he battled through horses to be second and confirmed that he is a game chap who loves Wolverhampton.

Methodtothemadness did as well as he could . A travesty that he had to give 7lbs to a horse who was a not knocked about 6th Newbury where 4 of the 1st 5 hold Cheltenham entries including Soaring Glory . 3rd favourite for The Supreme.. 107 Mongol Emperor got . What’s that in Northern terms ? 1lb less than Mannochmore got , that’s what .... Absolutely no method to the madness that these bha handicappers come up ... Hugh
