Day Three Of Go North Weekend

The final day of the Go North weekend and the focus is on chases at Carlisle.

In the two mile handicap final we run Mint Gold, a good ground novice chaser who has had a nice break to prepare for this run. With a determined attitude, he has improved for chasing and our only worry is that the forecasted rain will soften the ground too much. If this is the case he will not run, Derek and Jaimie will check the ground early on.

Well Above Par returned to form on his last run at Carlisle and we have added a tongue strap to help him in this valuable contest. He is on a workable mark and is one who would prefer soft or heavy ground.

in the bumper, we run Majestic Storm, a chasing type who is gradually getting the hang of racing. He has plenty of ability but is still rather immature mentally although we have seen signs of improvement at home, and the ground should not be an issue for him.

At Doncaster we have Red Missile returning to the turf; he will be sharper for his last run and has cheekpieces back on.

Yesterday at Doncaster Engles Rock ran a blinder to be second in a photo finish, finding a clear run and showing the benefit of a winter break. She deserves to go one place better.

The same is said of Lucky Flight, he returned to form with a sensible round of jumping and while he stayed on strongly he could not quite get to the winner. In the same race Vengeur De Guye was fourth, and is one who could do with softer ground. Izzy's Champion was another to run better than last time when third over hurdles and he could be back over fences next time.
