On to Kelso with three runners in two races.
Izzy's Champion has been making a few errors over fences so he reverts to hurdles to get his confidence back. He carries a light weight in the two and a half mile handicap and we know that he will stay further than this.
In the two mile chase we have two runers; Vengeur De Guye is just five years younger than his jockey and he loves the…
Tomorrow sees the first day of the 2021 Go North weekend, a showcase of the Northern racetracks, trainers, and horses. A year ago there was a lot of momentum about the weekend with yards planning to hold open days to encourage racegoers to see the high standards that we hold. Of course, that was cancelled as we locked down and had to turn horses out, but the Go North weekend is back and with it…
It looks as if we will have good ground at Kelso and the yard has six runners.
Fyfin Patsy has been most unlucky in her two chase starts and we are back over hurdles with her in a mares handicap hurdle. She will ne fine on good ground, and the conditions of the race are ideal, so with a clear round she could be close up in the closing stages.
Bayfriars Bobby is a good ground type…
Mighty Thunder ran a super race to be second in the Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter, travelling like a dream and hitting the front with a big leap at the third last. Staying on dourly he was just run out of it a few strides from the line to be second. This was another improved run from the novice chaser who seems to love the pace of the staying chases, and he is one to dream about next season.…
It was a case of so close but so far at Hexham as OrionInverness, pictured, returned to form with a bang, hitting the front after the last at Hexham only to be denied by a short head at the line. It was an excellent effort from the Tay Valley Chasers' gelding who has won five times and could do so again this spring.
We had some good runs from the others; Camp Belan showed plenty of promise…
So far Cheltenham has served up a feast of outstanding runners, and some memorable wins, none more so than TIger Roll who dominated the Glenfarclas Cross Country race this afternoon. A tumultuous few weeks for his yard, and after cries to retire him earlier this year, I would like to think that Tiger Roll has emphasised that his yard and connections know best when to step back and retire their horses.
Grand Morning appreciated being back over hurdles at Ayr and given a confident ride by Derek he powered home over the two and a half mile trip. A chasing type he has been placed over fences but is much happier hurdling and the heavy ground today was right up his street as he added to his owner's tally of five winners today. Having had a few issues smoothed out at home he should be able to continue…
Corach Rambler is fast becoming a horse to dream about as he won his second three mile novice hurdle from three runs. Relaxed behind the leader, Derek produced our stayer at the last and stayed on to win by two and a bit lengths. Bought in the autumn Corach is proving to be a horse to dream about as he has all the attributes to be even better over fences. His owners The Ramblers have one place left,…
In the autumn Goffs UK held two sales at Yorton Stud under strict social distancing rules. We bought the UK point to pointer Ahoy Senor after consultation with our UK pointing contacts and were delighted to secure him for a sensible price. A strong good moving type he had been well produced by Phil Rowley and we were delighted to see him win today at Ayr for Bruce and Carron Wymer. Being a big chap…
It was excellent to get back to the winners enclosure with Ain't My Fault who won the two mile novice handicap chase in determined fashion for Foresight Racing and Stephen. A headstrong type at home Ain't has not always had the strongest finish but Stephen has him nicely settled both at home and in his races and he finished off well.
In the Eider we were over the moon with Haul Us In on…
