Constant rain today but lots of effective work including some work on the grass with Blaydon and A Ladies Milan and a bunch of horses from Kilduff working on the woodchip at Arlary.
It is desperate to think of a second lockdown for our friends in the hospitality trade, and those who are restricted in their day to day living, and we feel privileged to be able to continue our work preparing…
Calle Malva allayed her trainer's fears that she would not handle good ground by running out a convincing winner of the mares chase at Newcastle. Jumping boldly although a little to the right, she stayed on strongly after the last. Her owners, Carron and Bruce Wymer and my father have had a good few days with their mares, Calle and Without Conviction, and both should continue to progress.
Scu and I were at the Goffs Yorton Sales today, sifting through the form horses to find new additions for the team. We selected two and are delighted to offer them for sale.
Ahoy Senor, pictured, is a strong chasing type who ran out an easy winner of his British point to point last week. He is the first GB point winner that we have bought, but came highly recommended by a wise man, Carl…
Aurora Thunder ran out a brave and gallant winner of the mares handicap hurdle at Ayr on Wednesday, skipping over the hurdles and galloping to the line under Blair. Her win is all the sweeter as she had a few hurdling issues at the start of the autumn but she is back in the groove and should continue to win for Colin and Nicola and Allson Sparkle.
We were delighted with our other mare, Without…
We have had some good placed efforts at Hexham and Kelso.
At Hexham our hurling debutante Westend Lady ran a super race to be third to the highly thought of Rayna's World and Stainsby Girl, looking dangerous up the hill and on the run in. She has a lot more to learn about racing, but her hurdling and attitude for the first time were exemplary and she should go very close next time with…
With mixed emotions, The Two Golf Widows and Lucinda Russell Racing announce that One For Arthur, the 2017 Randox Health Grand National winner has been retired; we have decided to call time on the racing career of our much loved warrior.
We are immensely grateful for what Arthur has done for us and the journey that he has taken us on. It was a huge privilege to win the National for Scotland…
Vino's Choice has been most consistent and having finished second on his previous start to a stablemate he finally won this afternoon at Musselburgh. Given a well judged ride by Blair he powered to the front two out and held on by a couple of lengths to gain his win for Two Black Labs. It was a welcome boost for part owner Louis who has been ill recently and would like to thank the Dick Vet for…
Thunder In Milan looks like a proper horse, and should bring many more good days for owners Allson Sparkle Ltd. Bought at the Goffs May sales last year he was chosen due to his staying pedigree and his sire being by Milan. He has been given time and having had a racecourse gallop at Perth in September he was fine to make the running. Despite being headed a furlong out, he showed a fabulous attitude…
After a week of work where we seemed to be soaking wet each day, we are looking forward to racing tomorrow at Ayr, where it sounds like we are going to be soaked again. At least the horses (and jockeys) are conditioned to it.
We have had plenty of work on the grass over the past week with some good work from Your Place, Red Missile, Looks Like Murt, Calle Malva, Haute Estime, One For Arthur,…
The highlight of the past few days racing has to be our treble at Hexham yesterday when Ain't My Fault, Mighty Thunder, and OrionInverness won successive chases at the extra Hexham fixture.
Ain't My Fault, pictured in the winners enclosure with Andy one of his Foresight Racing owners, fully deserved his win having run consistently in chases through the past year. There was no doubt that…
